Membership

What membership changes here.

Nothing is gated, you can book any of this on a free account. Membership only changes the price, and only on some of it.

Family

Women's Group Fitness
$20 $15
Men's Group Fitness
$20 $15

Applies to 2 of the 4 programmes running.

Family+

Women's Group Fitness
$20 $10
Men's Group Fitness
$20 $10

Applies to 2 of the 4 programmes running.

Where it does not apply: Kids Movement · 10–13 and Youth Strength & Conditioning · 14–17 are the same price on every plan. Those are monthly places rather than drop-in classes, priced per coach-hour, and we would rather charge one honest price than fold the cost into a membership everybody else is paying for.

The partnership

Women's Wellness, operating partner

Alana Life & Fitness is a women-only health club in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, running since 2014. They bring the coaching and the programming for NEXGEN Women's Wellness; NEXGEN provides the room, the membership, the booking and the community.

What NEXGEN brings

The room, the membership, the booking, the front desk, the schedule and the people already here. One account for the whole household.

What Alana Life & Fitness brings

The coaching and the programming. We did not invent their method and we are not going to describe it as ours.

Where this has got to: the partnership is agreed, and none of Alana Life & Fitness’s own programmes has been approved to run here yet. The sessions currently on this page are NEXGEN’s. When one of theirs opens, it will say so on the class itself, we are not going to let a partner’s name imply a coach they have not sent.

The thinking behind it

A gym membership you cannot actually use is not a gym membership.

The usual advice: just join somewhere, just go in the morning, just wear what you want, assumes the only obstacle is motivation. For a lot of people here it is not. It is a mixed floor, a shared changing room, and a hundred small negotiations before the first rep.

So the workaround becomes a home workout that happens twice, or a membership that quietly renews and never gets used. Neither of those is a discipline problem.

Take the room out of the equation and most people turn out to have wanted to train all along. That is the entire thesis, and it is why the first question this page asks is who you are rather than what you want to do.

One household

Everyone in the house, without everyone in the same room.

Four women sit talking over coffee in a bright common room while three young people work at a table in the foreground.

A standalone gym solves one person’s problem at a time. NEXGEN already runs children’s programming in the same building on the same evenings, which means the most common reason a parent gives for not booking: "I have the kids", is a scheduling question rather than a refusal.

Where two sessions genuinely overlap, the booking page for one will tell you about the other, with its age band and its remaining places. We will not describe that as childcare, because it is not: it is a separate programme with its own coach, its own register and its own age rules.

One NEXGEN account covers all of it: the same login, the same schedule, the same membership. See what membership changes.

How it works

Four steps, and the last one is the only hard part.

  1. 1Pick

Pick the room, not the workout.

Women, men or kids first, that is the decision that actually matters here. What happens inside the hour is the coach’s job, not yours to research.

  2. 2Book

See the price you will pay before you commit.

Your plan is applied on the page, not discovered at the till. No account is needed to look, and a free one is enough to book.

  3. 3Come

Turn up ten minutes early, once.

You are shown the room, asked about anything the coach should work around, and put with the group. Nothing is demonstrated at you in front of everybody.

  4. 4Keep going

The repeat is the whole method.

A fixed slot, a coach who learns your name, and other people who notice you were not there last week. Change the slot whenever it stops fitting — there is no contract to renegotiate.

Straight answers

We run classes. We are not selling you a transformation.

There are no before-and-after photographs on this page and there will not be. We are not going to tell you what this will do for your weight, your health markers or your mental health, because we do not know and it would not be ours to promise.

Coaches are coaches. Tell them about an injury and they will work around it; they will not treat it. Nothing here is physiotherapy, rehabilitation, medical nutrition or mental health care unless a qualified provider is explicitly delivering that service and says so on the page.

What we can say precisely: a fixed slot, a coach who knows your name, a room you do not have to steel yourself to walk into, and other people who noticed you were not there last week.

Before you book

The practical questions.

No. Membership changes the price, it does not gate the door. You can book a single class on a free NEXGEN account and never join anything.

Come once and see how the room feels.

That is the part you cannot judge from a page. An hour, and no obligation to come back.
